LA TUNISIA E GLI ESTREMISTI SALAFITI. TUNISIA AND THE SALAFIS MOUVEMENT
The challenges before Tunisia’s year old insurrection are certainly huge. An ailing economy, a stalemate in the touristic flux, an incredible, unacceptable unemployment rate.etc,etc. In spite of these conditions , the coalition government, seen as the most pragmatic of the region’s Islamist movements, did not act consequently. They show incompetence, fear when they got a chance to exert influence and define themselves within the country and on the world stage. Instead, they seem flabbergasted by the salafis actions and do not show any intention to intervene and stop their attacks among the students circles. Is Ennahda political leadership using and exploiting the salafis to push forward a critic path? Incredible to see a city like Tunis, a cosmopolite metropolis, worry about what the jasmin revolution might unleash. Stupid discussions over the refusal of the tunisian university to let female students examinations, while wearing veils that concealed their faces. What then about the right to equality and parity between male and female.
A clash over fundamental rights ,which covers an “indeterminate defintion” of what kind of Tunisia Ennahda intend to establish. Simply unacceptable to see the use of statement like “harming public order and good morals” or the use in 2012 of the word blasphemy to stop the broadcasting information. The debate on veil, sunbathing on beaches and racy fare in the media represent pure excuses to let people talk about idiocies instead of discussing real issues. The polarization on such a themes embroil the government in debates they seem to prefer to avoid ,when in reality they are support it while , not having any serious answer for the serious problems the country is facing.
